West Texas Senior Portraits

Wyatt is a senior at Monterey High School, and as this post is going live he is probably gearing up for Monterey’s Homecoming game this evening. I had fun photographing Wyatt’s senior photos in Downtown Lubbock and also at Silver Falls Park. Both of these locations offer so much variety and add in that we had great weather, Wyatt and his family now have MANY photos to choose from in his gallery.

I enjoyed getting to know Wyatt as well as his mom and grandmother who came along for the ride! You know you have amazing clients when you tell them: “The second location is at a rest stop about an hour outside of Lubbock, and then we have to hike down questionable stairs as well…” I should probably work on my pitch for that location! Ha! The beauty of this location is worth every minute in the drive as well as the questionable staircase. Wyatt’s photos at that location turned out to be some of my favorite I have taken there. It was a stagnant 110-degree day – but good grief there was BEAUTIFUL light and made sweating worth every second! -at least to me! 🙂

If you are reading this and do not already know, I currently teach at a high school in Lubbock. Through some of the conversation during Wyatt’s session, this came up and I learned that Wyatt would be playing the high school I teach at, tonight… for homecoming. I also learned that a wonderful student I have in class’ older brother is a good friend of Wyatt’s and also plays on his football team. Lubbock really is a big small town! So, as a good teacher and photographer, I will be attending the game tonight and, though I will be sitting on the visitor side wearing my red and black cheering on the Pirates, I will also be cheering for a Monterey High School Senior – and hopefully won’t get kicked out of the stands!

Wyatt, good luck tonight on your last homecoming game as well as your last football season! I hope you enjoy it as well as many of the “lasts” that will come this year. Thank you so much, Rita and Robin, for choosing me to capture your grandson/son’s photos! You have raised an awesome and polite young man who will do great things!

Here are some of my favorites from Wyatt’s session!
