A Lavender Spring Wedding at the Springs Tuscany Hill McKinney

TY + JULIA

This beautiful wedding day took place in the rolling hills of Northeast Texas, on the outskirts of Dallas-Fort Worth. Tuscany Hill at the Springs Event Venue in McKinney is a venue that I’ve never photographed before and let me tell you, it was a treat! We did get the June summer heat for most of the day and yet we were able to capture beautiful portraits! Between the rolling hills, old fences, stunning Tuscan venue, manicured garden, stone arches, a beautiful golden sunset, GORGEOUS decor and florals, I was in photographer heaven!

I absolutely loved being a part of Ty and Julia’s wedding day! Julia is my second youngest cousin on my mom’s side and Ty has been hanging around the family for a couple of years and fits right in. She loves Ty and so did we. I have been looking forward to capturing her as a bride since the day we found out that Ty (finally) had popped the question!!!

Their wedding day was gorgeous, classy and filled with so much joy!

Some people ask if I am truly able to enjoy family weddings when I’m photographing them and the answer is yes! I love it and consider it such an honor to be the one preserving the memories of their day. I loved doing my thing while also being surrounded by so many of my family members!! Speaking of, let me tell you about the army of friends and family Julia and Ty have, my mom was the queen of behind the scenes and is absolutely amazing at florals. But the army of family and friend helpers that showed up at 9am the morning of the wedding to have everything set by 12pm were also the backbone of pulling everything off! Everyone pitched in and didn’t ask questions (I and my brother included, it is our mom after all), when Diann is on a mission you just ask “How can I help? Where does this go?” and say “yes ma’am”! We are still working on her to do wedding floral and design, but for now it’s only for family and friends.

Meanwhile Julia and her bridesmaids were having a great time in the bridal suite getting glammed up! Everyone was so nice and helpful when I came in to grab her details and dress to photograph while they were finishing up as well as throughout the day and were all so kind and were Julia’s dedicated hype team! The groomsmen crew made their grand entrance a little later with their own playlist announcing their arrival and definitely set the mood for the remainder of the wedding day-FUN! They were there to have a good time and also were not shy to show their love for the groom!

I also had the opportunity to work along side my cousin Neeley, of Neeley Films – who in my opinion is the best in the area, in what she produces for brides as well as working with vendors! We have been close since we were little and work really well with one another, and for me this being a family wedding and getting to also work with family was icing on the cake!

We did a first look with both Ty and Julia’s dad and got ALL of the bridal party portraits DONE before the wedding – which meant the bridal party got to go straight to happy hour while we did family photos (one of many perks of doing a first look!) The reception was extremely fun! Julia’s father daughter dance had me in tears the whole time behind the lens (it just happens now that I have a daughter, plus the fact that I can remember Julia at my daughter’s age!). Julia’s sister Sara’s speech didn’t leave a dry eye in the room and Ty surprised everyone with the best choreographed dance with his groomsmen I have ever seen at a wedding. I believe his crew practiced a total of twice… one of the amazing coordinators, Madison, was gracious enough to send me the video she took of the dance and I will share it in the post for you – because it’s too good not to share. I know Neeley, will have a much higher quality version than an iPhone coming soon, as well.

A HUGE thank you to the incredible people who made this day happen: vendors, family, and friends.

Julia and Ty you are so very loved and it showed in many ways on Saturday. Love you both! I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from their wedding day!
