5 Photos with your Bridesmaids that you Absolutely Need

Wedding Tips: Top 5 Wedding Day Photos With Your Bridesmaids That You Absolutely Need

There are plenty of wedding photos you have probably considered taking on your wedding day. From getting ready, the ceremony to pictures with your family and of course with the groom but what about the ladies that are helping you and have helped throughout the entire wedding planning process? While you know you’ll have some time to take group shots of the entire bridal party you’ll want to make sure you have these photos with your bridesmaids as you get ready on your big day.

#1 Showcase The Back of the Dress

The back of just about every wedding dress is accentuated with beautiful details you’ll want to capture on your wedding day. To show off your details on the back of your dress, you can pose with all of the bridesmaids to show off their dresses as well. Also, a different idea to show off your dress is to have some great close ups of the bridesmaids helping button, zip, or lace up the back of your dress. Traditionally this is done by the mother of the bride, but can also be done by a bridesmaid.

#2 First Look With The Bridesmaids

You have heard about the first look for the bride and groom but what about when the bridal party sees the bride for the first time? The bride’s first reveal to her bridal party can result in some emotional and memorable photo opportunities. These are so fun to do! If this sounds like a fun idea then your mom can help you into your dress while your bridesmaids wait outside – and this can be a very special intimate moment with her as well!

#3 Having Fun

As you are getting ready on your wedding day everyone’s nerves are a little on edge because everyone wants to look their best. There will be moments when you just need to let loose to relax a little and having a little dance party, jumping on the bed, or just being silly are moments that can make for great photo opportunities. Though, you want to make sure everyone has their makeup done!

#4 Matching Robes or Shirts

Most brides will have getting ready attire for their bridesmaids and you’ll want to capture everyone in their cute and thoughtful pre-wedding wear. This set of wedding photos are a favorite! BUT, these can slow down the timeline of the day if not everyone has their hair and makeup done for this shot! I always suggest taking this photo right before you all get into your dresses (bridesmaids first, then bride!).

Here are some fun ideas for matching robes or shirts!

#5 Bouquets and Bridesmaids Dresses

Bouquets won’t last a lifetime but the wedding photos you have of them will. The bridesmaids and bride bouquet shot is one that you will want to have, I promise! There are many ways you can showcase the bouquets as well as the bridesmaid’s dresses. From lining everyone up and holding their bouquets out to the camera or hiding their faces to forming a circle around the bride; this is another shot that you can get creative with on your wedding day. Be sure to tell your photographer (or me) if you have a preference on this fun photo! I always take a shot of you all lined up with just your florals but we can easily add another!

#6 The Shoe Shot (Optional)

You can’t forget about the shoes and what about those pedicures? You’ll want to get a group shot that showcases just the bride’s or everyone’s shoes.

#7 Celebrating Shot (Optional – BUT FUN!)

You’re getting married! There is bound to be a bottle or two of champagne being opened in the bride’s honor on your wedding day. Take a minute to pause as you toast away your single life with your bridesmaids for a picture-perfect wedding photo. These always look great in your wedding photo album! If there is a beautiful couch or bed in the bridal suite or hotel room this is the PERFECT spot for this!

I hope you enjoyed some wedding tips that I have seen brides love for years! Though of all the wedding tips out there, lean on your wedding photographer and wedding planner or coordinator the most to get the best wedding photos and experience out of your day. Wedding photographers and Planners or Coordinators have witnessed MANY weddings and can help guide you and help avoid a wedding day stress point or a “man I wish I had done this” moment, making your day the BEST it could possibly be!
